Hotel Dom Vilas

STAFF The staff are Dom Vilas’s greatest strength by far. The four receptionists – João Paulo, Marcía, Marta and Juliano – are warm, friendly, knowledgeable about this ancient city, and EXCEPTIONALLY helpful. But for their expert advice and help: • I would not have managed to see as much of Braga as I did within a Very short space of time (too short) • I would not have made it to my coach on time, AND they mothered me with a paper cup full of the most scrumptious, sweet smoked almonds (which they had in a big bowl at reception, made by another member of staff) to take with me on my coach. So efficient are the housekeeping staff that I was able to check in Very early (7am), and check out late, without anybody grumbling. LOCATION The Dom Vilas is a short 5-min walk from the Avenida da Liberdade in Braga, which in turn leads up to the Centro Histórico. The Centro Histórico is about a 15/20-min walk from the hotel. TRAVEL The Dom Vilas is about a 10-min walk from the local bus stop from where one takes the bus to the Santuário do Bom Jesus do Monte. The Terminal Rodoviária (main coach station) is about 8-10 mins away by taxi (if you don’t have much luggage, you might choose to walk. It takes about 30 mins on foot). DINING OPTIONS The hotel is a 2-min walk from local neighbourhood restaurants, and about a 7-min walk from the main parade of shops and other restaurants on the Avenida da Liberdade. BREAKFAST I did not book this option because the breakfast photographs on their website were not very appealing. If they improve those pictures, I might book myself in for breakfast next time! SAFETY The road the hotel is situated on is largely residential, and felt fairly safe.

The location is great though a little far from the city centre. The hotel location is great for a traveller desiring a very quite stay. It has its restaurant and other restaurants/cafe surrounding it. There is a nearby convenient store (LIDL Plus) where you can buy groceries and personal items cheap and it is just about 10 minutes walk away from the hotel. For fun lovers, there is an adjoining fun park across the a well landscaped river.

Staff was incredibly helpful and kind. The location although not central, it's very good if you plan on leaving your car at the hotel for free and then walk a little to the center and the attractions. Free and private parking spots for the guests, but no many spots. Enough for me as it was low season. Room was comfortable and the AC, although old, worked like a charm. Breakfast was great too, diverse and plentiful.

The staff very friendly and courteous,made very welcome by Juliano,who explained everything about the Hotel,He was very good in explaining the area,what was good to see.The breakfast was very good in choices available, and staff very helpful and friendly,Would definitely recommend to family and friends to utilise the Hotel.

The hostess was really nice and gave us a lot of information. The breakfast was really good for the price and if you had wishes concerning eggs they would make it for you. We got a parking place in front of the hotel and it was about 10min walk to center. A beautiful city
